UPDATE: Device used for prescribed burn causing smoke in West Kelowna

An air current burner, a device used for open burning, is letting off puffs of smoke that has been seen by residents above Smith Creek in West Kelowna.

Reader Scott Moran spotted the smoke early this morning, April 1.

"It's not actually a wildfire so we don't want people to be worried about that," said B.C. Wildfire Service information officer Kyla Fraser.

Fraser said area residents have been calling the wildfire service to report the smoke.
