’80s themed psychic ski race returns to Big White

KELOWNA – After a 20 year hiatus, the Kelowna Cup ski race is coming back to Big White.

The '80s themed race is a kind of psychic slalom where racers, some wearing costumes from the '80s, make a timed run down a course and then predict what their time will be for the second run. The person with the closest prediction wins a prize.

“Now’s your chance to pull out your treasured one-piece ski suits, old school jackets, racing pants and zinc for this totally epic day,” says senior vice president Michael J. Ballingall.

There are several categories, including kids under 10, youth between 10 and 14 years, open male, open female, family and corporate/media.

The cost is $10 per person or $20 for a family or group.

Businesses who sign up four teams can enter a fifth team for free.

Prizes for closest prediction and best costume will be handed out at an après ski at Sessions.

The event is also a fundraiser for the Kelowna General Hospital Foundations Hey DJ Pump This Pary! taking place at Happy Valley Lodge Saturday, March 7 at 6 p.m.
