Tranquille Road overpass in Kamloops partially reopened following crash

The Tranquille Road overpass in Kamloops has been deemed safe after a large commercial vehicle hit the concrete and forced the City to close it out of an abundance of caution.

The crash at around 10:53 a.m. today, April 14, closed the overpass for a time, but it has since been partially reopened.

RCMP said in an emailed statement a large commercial vehicle hit the concrete under the overpass. No one was hurt and police are investigating.

"There is currently one lane open southbound on Overlanders Bridge, with traffic being routed over the overpass," reads a post to the City of Kamloops website. "All southbound traffic on Fortune Drive is being re-routed down Leigh Road, over the overpass and over the bridge. One northbound lane is open on Fortune Drive."

Drivers are asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

The City said cleanup is underway and is expected to take all day.
