Suspect arrested after making threats against Kamloops RCMP
Threats to Kamloops RCMP ended with a man taken to hospital for medical assessment earlier this week.
Just before 10 p.m., April 13, a threat was allegedly directed to Kamloops RCMP, which led them to a distraught man in Ashcroft, according to an RCMP press statement.
Ashcroft RCMP responded to the incident with assistance from Kamloops police, including police dogs.
Police surrounded an apartment complex in what RCMP say was a high-risk situation, and eventually were able to negotiate a safe surrender.
The suspect is known to police and officers thought he may have had access to firearms.
Under the Mental Health Act, the suspect was taken to hospital for a medical assessment and care.
No charges will be laid.
