Kelowna Rockets lose to visting Hitmen

KELOWNA – The Calgary Hitmen defeated the Kelowna Rockets 2-1 on Saturday night at Prospera Place, scoring a pair of unanswered goals to come back for the win.

Jackson Whistle returned to the Rockets net and suffered the loss as Kelowna outshot Calgary 31-24.

Leon Draisaitl scored the only goal of the game for the Kelowna. Draisaitl opened the scoring in the first period, before Calgary tied it in the second period and won it with a goal with four minutes to play in the third.

Draisaitl was also given a game misconduct after a controversial five minute major for goalie interference was called in the second period which saw an already short Rockets bench get even shorter as the team was without several regulars out with injury.

Kelowna fell to 48-11-3-1 on the season with the loss.

The Rockets are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Everett to meet the Silvertips before playing in Vancouver next Friday.

Kelowna returns to Prospera Place next Saturday night when they host the Spokane Chiefs.
