KAMLOOPS — A local economics professor is set to talk about the possible economic impact the proposed Ajax Mine could have, including the way deteriorating air quality can affect the city's health and economic evaluation.
Dr. Peter Tsigaris, an economics professor at Thompson Rivers University and Kamloops resident for more than 20 years, will look to provide some insights and recommendations on the impact the mine could have on our city.
“Lifestyle and technology as well as existing industries and new projects produce benefits to producers and consumers around the world,” according to Tsigaris, “Economic activity often comes with external or social costs.”
The topic is the latest in a speaker series hosted by the faculty association and aimed at the proposed Ajax Mine. How the mine fits in with the vision for the city as well as health and tourism impacts have all been tackled recently.
Tsigaris will speak Sunday, March 9 at the Alumni Theatre (Clocktower) starting at 2 p.m.
