MARKHAM — Alex Palou had the fastest time in the first practice session at the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham.

His best time around the road course was one minute 14.9915 seconds.

Caio Collet was 0.0539 seconds off Palou’s best lap and Scott McLaughlin was 0.3066 behind that.

The second practice session goes this afternoon and qualifying is this evening.

Organizers had to cancel the first day of track sessions because the course was not completed in time.

It’s the first year Markham has hosted the race after it was moved from Toronto’s Exhibition Place, where it had been held since its inaugural running in 1986.
