Foul play not involved in body found near Vernon high school

VERNON – The RCMP has ruled out foul play in the death of a man discovered last week near a Vernon high school.

A walker found the body Feb. 27 on the Nka-kul-kem trail near Fulton Secondary School. The body was identified as that of a 36-year-old man, but his name won’t be released until next of kin are notified.

RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says without an autopsy and toxicology test, it’s hard to say how the man died.

Because there is no criminality involved, the investigation has been turned over to the B.C. Coroners. It could be months before any findings are released to the public.
