Arrighetti moves off Blue Jays’ 15-day injured list; Schneider recalled from triple-A

NEW YORK — Right-handed pitcher Spencer Arrighetti has been reinstated by the Blue Jays from Toronto’s 15-day injured list.

He had been out since July 25 with a kind of right foot nerve irritation known as Morton’s neuroma.

Arrighetti was acquired ahead of Major League Baseball’s trade deadline in a deal with the Houston Astros for centre-fielder Daulton Varsho.

Utility player Davis Schneider was also recalled Friday from the Blue Jays triple-A affiliate in Buffalo, N.Y.

Both were available to play against the New York Yankees.

In corresponding moves, left-handed pitcher Brendan Cellucci was optioned to triple-A, and infielder Josh Smith was placed on Toronto’s 10-day IL with left hamstring inflammation.
