TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays recalled pitcher CJ Van Eyk from triple-A Buffalo on Friday and designated fellow right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson for assignment.

Van Eyk was available for the opener of a three-game series against the Seattle Mariners on Friday night at Rogers Centre, the Blue Jays said.

The 27-year-old appeared in three games for Toronto earlier this season. He posted a 0-1 record and 4.76 earned-run average.

In Buffalo, Van Eyk was 6-3 with a 3.79 ERA over 21 appearances (15 starts). He was selected by the Blue Jays with the 42nd overall pick of the 2020 draft.

Woods Richardson was shelled for six earned runs in one inning of relief in a 13-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals on Thursday.
