Jaguars acquire QB Quinn Ewers from the Dolphins for a 6th-round pick in 2028

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars acquired quarterback Quinn Ewers from Miami on Saturday in exchange for a sixth-round selection in the 2028 NFL draft.

The move is pending a physical and likely means the end of backup Nick Mullens’ time with the Jaguars. Mullens was inconsistent throughout training camp and the preseason. If Mullens gets cut, it would save $1.2 million and count $1.3 million against the salary cap in dead money.

The 23-year-old Ewers, who played collegiately at Texas, was originally drafted by Miami in the seventh round in 2025. He played in four games last season, making three starts, and completed 66.3% of his passes for 622 yards and three touchdowns.
