Two arrested in Richmond, B.C., after crashing through mall gates with vehicle
RICHMOND — Two men have been arrested and charged after allegedly using a stolen vehicle to crash through the metal gates of an outlet mall and into a storefront.
RCMP in Richmond, B.C., say police were called to the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet at Vancouver airport early on Aug. 15.
Callers reported a vehicle crashing through the mall’s gates and into a store, before suspects entered and made off with merchandise.
Officers spotted the suspected vehicle and used a deployed a tire deflation device to stop it.
RCMP say it crashed into two police vehicles before coming to a stop near No. 3 Road and Capstan Way, where the two men tried to flee on foot but were arrested.
Merchandise inside the vehicle has been returned, and the men are being held in custody and facing charges of break and enter, mischief, dangerous operation of a vehicle, assault and obstruction of a peace officer.
