Another death linked to Kelowna care home COVID-19 outbreak

Another death has been reported in connection to a COVID-19 outbreak at a Kelowna long-term care home.

Spring Valley long-term care has 48 COVID-19 cases as part of an ongoing outbreak affecting 36 residents and 12 staff.

Interior Health said in a media release issued today, June 1, the additional death means a total of 11 residents have died in the outbreak.

The care home can house 150 residents and it is near capacity. Currently, it's the only outbreak in the health authority.

The Interior Health region had 19 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, with 421 active cases. There are currently 14 people in the hospital, with eight of those in intensive care.
