Golfers rejoice: Local course to open Thursday

SPALLUMCHEEN – At least one local golf course is boasting an early March opening.

The Spallumcheen Golf and Country Club is opening its driving range Thursday, Mar. 5. — one of the earliest dates around.

The course at Predator Ridge is eyeing an April 8 opening, and the Vernon Golf and Country Club says the earliest it will be welcoming people is Mar. 16. Operators at Hilllview Golf Course are crossing their fingers for good weather and hoping to open next weekend.

Golfers taking advantage of Spallumcheen’s opening this weekend will enjoy highs of 11 C and sunshine — not bad for the first week of March when normal temperatures for this time of year are maximums of 7 C.
