UPDATE: Armed robbery and stabbing at Kamloops business

Kamloops RCMP are seeking witnesses to an early morning robbery and stabbing that has put a woman in hospital.

Officers responded to a panic alarm at a business in the 1200 block of Summit Drive around 7:13 a.m., June 8, according to an RCMP media release. RCMP do not identify the business.

A woman was robbed and stabbed, and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP converged on the business with a police dog and several other units.

A suspect was taken into custody, but police are looking for a second suspect who got away.

RCMP describe the suspects as Caucasian males on bicycles. One was wearing a long green camo jacket and dark pants. The other was dressed in dark clothing.

There was a truck fire shortly after the armed robbery and assault about a block away that investigator think may be connected.

“Police are asking anyone who saw, heard, or captured video footage that may be related to the robbery or truck fire to please contact police as soon as possible,” RCMP Insp. Jeff Pelley said in the release.

“Addressing this kind of violence and crime remains a top priority for us and we’re asking for the public’s help in continuing to move this investigation forward.”

Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2021-18916.
