Crime spree in small Shuswap community

Thieves had a heyday in a small Shuswap community this week breaking into vehicles and even stealing their getaway car.

RCMP say overnight on June 9, thieves broke into at least six vehicles in Blind Bay on Shuswap Lake stealing things left inside including change, electronics, purses and wallets. A trailer was also hit, with tools stolen.

Salmon Arm RCMP said in a media release the stolen credit cards and bank were used in stores in Salmon Arm and the Okanagan as they traveled in the stolen vehicle.

While the investigation continues, police would like to remind residents to never leave valuables in vehicles overnight, and to lock their vehicles and trailers.
