UPDATE: Dogs saved from house fire in Lake Country

Lake Country firefighters are battling a house fire on Hallam Drive this afternoon.

Residents started posting on Facebook about smoke in the area shortly before 4 p.m. today, June 17.

Rebecca Leboe, whose parents live on a neighbouring property, said the firefighters were able to save dogs and their puppies from the home.

"My mom said that the smoke is so thick she can't see her other neighbours house, it's just pouring up the hill," she said.

Lake Country resident Tara Shoemaker saw flames shooting through the roof of the home.

"We all cheered as the dogs came out. So scary," she said.

Lake Country Fire Department dispatch confirmed the house fire is in the 10000 block of Hallam Drive and seven fire trucks are on scene.
