Chilliwack man drowns in Osoyoos Lake

The RCMP and B.C. Coroners Service is investigating after a Chilliwack man drowned yesterday in Osoyoos Lake.

The Osoyoos RCMP received a request for assistance, June 29, at 4:42 p.m., from first responders after a man was found unresponsive in Osoyoos Lake.

The 31-year-old man from Chilliwack was in shallow water at Nk’Mip RV Park playing with his young child when others noticed the child alone and the man was missing, according to the RCMP in a news release. 

Friends and family quickly found him unresponsive in the lake. 

Life saving measure were initiated by his friends and others in the area and continued by first responders but he died.

The B.C. Coroners Service is investigating the man’s unexpected death to determine how, where, when and by what means the man died.

His name will not be released, according to the RCMP.
