For the past 12 months the RCMP across Canada have been rolling out a new, modern navy blue uniform shirts leaving the grey aesthetic in the dust. Now, it’s BC’s turn.
Frontline RCMP officers in the province will be setting aside their old grey shirts for the new navy blue ones, according to an RCMP media release issued today, Oct. 27. Although, you might see cops wearing the old grey ones during the transition period.

RCMP are concerned the change in the colour of the shirts might cause confusion amongst the public.
“While there have been recent incidents involving individuals impersonating police officers, the RCMP encourages anyone with concerns about an officer’s identity to ask for official identification,” RCMP said in the release.
If you’re concerned the officer you are interacting with isn’t a real cop, RCMP say phone the nearest detachment to see if the officer is working in the area.
