Saibari has surgery for an ankle ligament tear and Bayern teammate Gnabry has a hamstring injury

MUNICH (AP) — Midfielder Ismael Saibari has undergone surgery after tearing a ligament in his right ankle during Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

Forward Serge Gnabry also sustained a left hamstring injury, Bayern said in a brief statement on Sunday, without giving an estimate for how long each player will be sidelined.

Saibari was helped off the field by two members of Bayern’s medical team after a collision with Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.

Saibari was a standout for Morocco at the World Cup and joined Bayern during the tournament from PSV Eindhoven.

There was no immediate update given about France star Michael Olise, who also went off injured. He lay down with his hands covering his face and signaled for a substitution.

Goal-scoring winger Luis Diaz didn’t play against Dortmund due to a thigh issue and veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer sat out that game with a foot problem.

The mounting injury concerns come with Bayern facing Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday. ___
