B.C. SPCA searching for owner of dog found near Lytton

The B.C. SPCA is asking for the public's assistance to find the owner of a stray dog found wandering in the Lytton area this week.

The dog has no identification, but the SPCA hopes someone will recognize her so that she can be returned to her family, according to a news release from the non-profit.

A wildfire recently destroyed most of town and a Transportation Safety Board investigation is ongoing to determine if the fire was caused by a train.

Two Fisheries and Oceans employees were patrolling 12 Mile Road, July 8, when the dog appeared at the side of the road.

“There was a thunder and lightning storm around 8 p.m. and the dog came running up to their truck,” said Lorie Chortyk, communications manager for the B.C. SPCA, in a press release.

“They opened the truck door and she jumped right in.”

The dog is very sweet and friendly, and was obviously well cared for, she said.

The dog was transferred into BC SPCA care and was taken for veterinary care. “She has an injury to her leg but we are monitoring the situation and she is on Medicam to help with any discomfort,” she said. The dog is receiving emergency boarding and care with the SPCA in Kamloops.
