Right place, right time: Workers on way home put out North Okanagan grassfire

Two employees with a restoration company were on their way home from a job in the North Okanagan yesterday afternoon when they spotted flames at the side of road.

The workers with Okanagan Restoration Service figured they had a full tank of water in their van used for cleaning, so why not stop and see what they could do until fire crews arrived, according to a post on the company Facebook page.

The workers were on their way back to from Mara Lake and saw the fire along Highway 97A just north of Just Rocks in the Armstrong/Spallumcheen area yesterday, July 13.

They had the fire well in hand as firefighters from the local fire department arrived to check their work.
