THOMPSON-OKANAGAN — The clocks have sprung forward and the mercury is rising, and now it's time to put your dreams of summer fun into action.
This Saturday, March 15, starting at 9 a.m. camping reservations open in B.C., though only for the upcoming three months. Reservations are accepted for up to three months in advance of the arrival date for more than 5,200 front country campsites.
More than 109 campgrounds in 97 different provincial parks will begin accepting reservations Saturday. Booking early is probably your best bet at getting that prime spot — more than 119,000 reservations were made in 2013. About three-quarter of those originated in B.C.
This year reservations can also be made at Meziadin, Prudhomme and Paul lake provincial parks and more campsites are reservable at Alice Lake, Golden Ears, Rolley Lake and Herald Lake provincial parks. In the backcountry more parks will be added to the registration system before the May long weekend.
