Customer injured trying to stop armed robbery

KELOWNA – Police are looking for a teenager who hurt a bystander while trying to rob the clerk at a convenience store on Bernard Avenue early this morning.

RCMP Const. Kris Clark says the boy, who appeared to be around 17-years-old, entered the 7-Eleven at 1115 Bernard Ave. at around 1:55 a.m., Monday, March 9 and demanded cigarettes. He was wearing a mask and was armed with a knife.

A customer who tried to intervene became involved in an “altercation” with the suspect and suffered a cut to his hand, according to Clark. The severity of the injury is not being disclosed and the teen got away.

The suspect is described as Caucasian male, about 5’5" with a slim build. He was wearing a black hoodie and jeans.
