Evacuation orders downgraded to alerts for 91 properties near Nk’Mip Creek wildfire

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary has rescinded evacuation orders for 91 properties in the Sidley and Bridesville areas this afternoon based on advice from the B.C. Wildfire Service.

The properties in Electoral Area E/West Boundary are now under an evacuation alert.

This change leaves 157 on order and 283 on alert due to the Nk’Mip Creek Wildfire within the regional district, according to the district's press release. The wildfire is currently mapped at 6,800 hectares and is burning to the east of Oliver and Osoyoos.

The properties being downgraded to an alert are on the north side of Highway 3 between the westerly boundary of the regional district, 250 metres west of Sidley Mountain Road, to Mt. Baldy Road at the Canyon Bridge and north to McKinney Creek.

Work to control the Nk’Mip Creek Wildfire continues. If fire behaviour changes and the threat to people and property increases, evacuation orders and alerts could once again be reinstated or expanded, according to the regional district.

A full list of addresses included in this evacuation order rescission along with maps are available on the RDKB emergency website.
