Mayor’s speech outlines big plans for Kelowna

Mayor Walter Gray outlined the City of Kelowna's accomplishments over the past year during the annual state of the city presentation at the Capri Hotel today.

Many of the accomplishments included making decisions for the future. Gray described city plans to invest $89.7 million in capital projects this year which include $4.5 million in Rutland transit improvements, $22 million for Kelowna International Airport upgrades and expansions and $3 million for phase two of a 1.5 km path extension from Spall Road to Dilworth Drive. As well, the Mayor discussed building a second crossing of Okanagan Lake to avoid gridlock in the future as traffic across Bennett bridge increases.
