Three areas of Kamloops to stop speeding in

KAMLOOPS – If you can’t police yourself to stop speeding in school zones, the Kamloops RCMP will hand you a hefty fine.

“We’ve received numerous complaints of drivers speeding in school zones,” spokesperson Cpl. Cheryl Bush says.

The three roads police indicated as “high offender areas” are Parkcrest Avenue, Tranquille Road and Summit Drive.

Bush says the traffic unit will conduct more speed watch patrols in the area.

“As we get into spring weather there will be more children walking or biking to school,” she says.

School zone speed limits are in effect from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. The fine for speeding in a school zone starts at $196, Bush says.

  1. three areas to stop speeding in…but feel free to speed anywhere else..is that the message? was driving down tranquille the other day, stopped at a cross walk to let a pedestrian cross, a cop sped right through as the pedestrian was crossing…way to set a good example…cops and gov above the law? nah…not possible.

  2. how about teaching kids to cross the street properly, like in schoolpay attention, make eye contact, don’t take forgranted when the light says wlk…lifes skills..furthermore, the law needs to change so that the right of way goes to cars- to many people geting hit becuase the law says….

not only school zones but the playground zones on Shubert should also be monitored. I have had cars go into oncoming traffic to pass me going past those parks.

  4. Just wondering too, if they are as concerned about playground zones. We have one near our house and you should see the people that speed through the playground zone.I would be more worried about that……..or just as concerned!
