“These crews will continue assessing and installing structure protection equipment today in Logan Lake and in the Tunkwa Lake area. Air support from helicopters, water skimmers and air tankers was ongoing throughout the day yesterday,” according to the B.C. Wildfire Service.
Ground crews and equipment are working to establish contingency guards on the south flank of the fire, south of Tunkwa Lake.
Earlier this week, the service reported the fire escaped containment lines southeast near Tunkwa Lake but this was not a result of controlled ignitions being conducted in the area.
Structure protection personnel have been deployed to assess properties in the Tunkwa Creek area.
The fire is currently 38,000 hectares in size and burning out of control.
Yesterday, the entire District of Logan Lake was evacuated due to the wildfire. Evacuation orders were also issued by the Thompson Nicola Regional District yesterday, Aug. 12, for properties in Electoral Area J. For more information on evacuations, visit the district's website.
