South Okanagan Events Centre looking for part-time workers as venue prepares to reopen

Now that sports fans and concert goers are nearly allowed to gather indoors again, the largest venue in the South Okanagan is going to need more than 100 new staffers.

“We are so excited to welcome our fans into the building this fall with the return of Penticton Vees hockey and live music and entertainment,” general manager Dean Clarke said in a media release issued today, Aug. 16. “With the return of events means the return of our hardworking part-time workforce. These employees are an integral part of what we do and without them, events wouldn’t be possible.”

The events centre will be hosting a job fair on Wednesday, Aug. 18 and Thursday, Aug. 19. Managers are looking for part-time servers, bartenders, kitchen staff and housekeepers. Those with and without any experience are both encouraged to apply. The job fair takes place both day between 1 and 7 p.m. at the venue’s restaurant.

Anybody seeking an operations role is asked to attend a second job fair Thursday, Aug. 26, also between 1 and 7 p.m.

Those who are interested in applying but unable to attend the job fair can send their resumes to Dave Kinnin at dave.kinnin@penticton.ca for food and beverage, or Tanner McConnell at at tanner.mcconnell@penticton.ca for operations.
