Suspect wanted on Canada-wide warrant arrested thanks to good neighbour

KELOWNA – A break and enter attempt was thwarted by the quick actions of a local citizen Monday morning.

According to a media release from Cpl. Joe Duncan, Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter in progress at a home on the 1900 block of Abbott Street on March 9, 2015, around 11 a.m.

“As the trio of suspects fled the scene on bicycles, a quick-acting citizen provided detailed descriptions resulting in the arrest of all three individuals,” Duncan says.

Police confirmed there was a broken window and pry marks on the door of the home but there is no evidence the thieves managed to get inside.

Three people, a 38-year-old man, a 21-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman – all from Kelowna – could now face charges of break and enter. The woman also faces potential charges of possession of stolen property and a stolen credit card. Two of the suspects were released on Promises to Appear however the 38-year-old man is being held on a Canada-wide warrant.

They will appear in court at a later date.
