Okanagan, Nicola election candidates have signs stolen, vandalized
A Liberal candidate vying for a seat in the Central Okanagan says her election signs have been stolen and vandalized.
Sarah Eves, Liberal party candidate for Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola, announced last night on Twitter that someone had written “commie” on her election sign and that others had been stolen.
“I totally don’t understand this behaviour. It does however re-affirm my belief that we should ban signs in future elections,” she wrote, adding at the rate her signs are being stolen, she might not have any for election day.
Another of my signs destroyed when people wrote ‘commie’ on it.

Earlier this week, Tracy Gray, Conservative candidate for Kelowna-Lake Country, also had her signs vandalized.
“These signs were paid for with donations made by everyday Canadians, and put up by hard-working volunteers from across Kelowna-Lake Country. Vandalizing or removing signs is a criminal act and is punishable under the Criminal Code,” she wrote in a press release.
“We hope that everyone respects the time that volunteers put into constructing and putting up these signs, the donations that purchase them, and the law, by no longer damaging campaign signs from any of the candidates in this federal campaign.”
General voting day for the federal election is scheduled for Sept. 20.
