Hockey world mourning loss of three players who died in Surrey vehicle accident

The hockey community has unleashed an outpouring of support for the friends and families of three teenagers who died in a Surrey vehicle crash.

The three teenagers, identified as Caleb Reimer, Parker Magnuson and Ronin Sharma by friends and families on social media, died in a single-vehicle car crash early Saturday morning. The RCMP report their vehicle hit a tree and they were pronounced dead at the scene.

“The loss of three teenagers is staggering. My son Matthew will forever miss Caleb Reimer and Parker Magnuson who were his teammates in Cloverdale. Also lost to our world too early is Ronin Sharma who would be playing with Matthew this year in Langley,” Kevin Gallant, from Langley, wrote on Facebook.

The National Hockey League also issued a tweet today, offering its condolences for the families of the hockey players.

The NHL sends its love and deepest condolences to the families of junior hockey players Caleb Reimer, Ronin Sharma and Parker Magnuson who tragically passed away in a car accident on Saturday.

Hockey leagues and teams from across B.C. have also issued messages of support for the families of the players.

The three teens were members of the Delta Hockey Academy. The Edmonton Oilers also issued a statement today, saying Reimer was a 2019 first-round draft pick. A memorial for the three hockey players has been set up by Planet Ice Delta, in Delta.

"Caleb was a young man with a bright future both on and off the ice.  He was a person that you loved to be around, he was a great teammate and a great friend," said Oilers president and general manager Kirt Hill, in a statement.

"We will truly miss having Caleb in our lives each and every day.  He was part of our family and will be a tremendous loss in all of our hearts."
