iN PHOTOS: Bizarre, unsafe violations spotted by B.C. commercial vehicle inspectors

Some days can feel like the Wild West for inspectors with B.C.'s Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement branch as they catch drivers with safety violations.

Using amusing comments and a Wild West-themed background, the inspectors shared photos of some infractions, both to highlight the importance of doing pre-trip inspections and to show that many violations can be prevented with due care and attention, and a bit of common sense.

From missing parts to overloaded truck beds, the photos show infractions some might find hard to believe.

This bus has lawn chairs in it with seatbelts around them and nothing is secured to the ground.

This truck had no tie downs securing the hay. A hay bale already appeared to be missing while another nearly fell off the truck during the stop.

After this truck failed to report to the Vernon scale, inspectors discovered the load was unsecured and the truck was so overloaded its tires were hitting the truck deck.

Using pliers to fix a brake leak isn't a proper fix for a provincial highway. If the pliers fell off there would be flying debris and bad brakes.

In this case, the pilot car escorting an oversized load was stopped because it didn't have a property mounted, illuminated sign board. The sign on the front of the car was also wrong.
