COVID-19 vaccine requirements on the way for CN Rail employees

COVID-19 vaccines will be mandatory for all employees at Canadian National Railway come November.

CN announced on Wednesday that the rule will apply to all employees of the company or its subsidiaries by Nov. 1, 2021, in an effort to maintain a safe environment for employees, customers and communities they operate in.

Aside from the rail company's own employees, the vaccine policy will also apply to its "contractors, consultants, agents and suppliers and anyone who accesses CN's Canadian properties," according to a news release.

The company announced that they will consider medical and religious vaccine exemptions on an individual basis.

CN rail lines pass through Kamloops before taking the Fraser Valley to the way to the Lower Mainland and CN employees several hundred people in the Kamloops area.

CN is joining many other national, provincial and local businesses requiring vaccinations for employees.
