Coroner investigating death of local activist
The B.C. Coroners Service confirmed today it is investigating the sudden death of 61-year-old author, actor and activist John Pasquale Boncore at his home on the Adams Lake reserve near Chase.
Boncore, also known as Splitting the Sky or by his native name Dacajeweiah, was found by his friends on March 13 and is believed to have died the day before.
Chase RCMP along with the B.C. Coroners Service continue to investigate, though foul play has been ruled out. Post-mortem testing will be conducted to try and determine a clear cause of death.
In 2009 Boncore made international headlines after trying to cross a line of city police officers providing security as the former U.S.A. president George W. Bush spoke at the Telus Convention Centre in Calgary. His attempt at a citizens arrest earned him a conditional discharge and a year probation.
