How to fight ‘I’m bored’ this spring break

PENTICTON – There is no shortage of things to do with the kids over the two-week spring break in Penticton.

Spring break kicks off Monday, March 16 before wrapping up on Friday, March 27 with all kinds of activities and day camps planned by various organizations around town. The best advice is to pre-register for the camps in case the one you want is full.

Recreation Penticton is the go-to agency for spring break day camps. Leaders have planned days filled with games, sports, crafts, swimming and field trips. Plus there is a spring break schedule out for the pool at the recreation centre. Have a look at the City of Penticton website for more information.

Pacific Sports Kelowna is back with their XploreSportZ camps. Children ages nine to 12 can experience new and exciting sports with the help of certified coaches. All the details about camp content, dates, times and registration can be found at the website.

Staff at the Penticton Public Library has put together some fun programs for the kids during spring break. They kick off with a Storytime for the younger crowd and Teen Karaoke on Wednesday, March 18. For the full schedule of events go to the library’s website.

For something a little different, Andy’s Animal Acres has opened for the season, just in time for spring break. There are three orphaned lambs, four pregnant Nigerian dwarf goats and lots of chicks. More information, including the hours of operation, can be found on Animal Acres’ Facebook page.

For a more spiritual spring break, the Get Bent Yoga, Dance and Wellness Centre is holding day camps which encourage positive values, learning, laughter, compassion, self-esteem and self expression. The website has all the pertinent information.
