
UPDATE: Missing couple found dead after ATV rollover near Summerland
A missing couple who were last seen at a campsite near Princeton-Summerland Road has been found dead due to an ATV rollover.
"On the morning of Oct. 3, the 67-year-old man and his 56-year-old wife were located by Search and Rescue. Unfortunately, they did not survive an apparent ATV rollover in dense and steep terrain," according to the B.C. RCMP's media release.
“We are very saddened by this loss and offer sincere condolences to their friends and family,” said Staff Sgt. Bob Vatamaniuck of the Penticton RCMP, in the news release. “The RCMP wishes to thanks the Search and Rescue teams for their tireless and selfless work in locating the couple, as well as the public who offered a lot of support.”
The couple, Glen and Eva Hamakawa, left their campsite at the Crump Recreational Site located on the Princeton-Summerland Road on their ATV and did not return Friday, Oct. 1, according to the RCMP's media release yesterday. They were traveling the backcountry of the recreational site.

The RCMP were working with Search and Rescue personnel and RCMP air services out of Kelowna in hopes of finding them.
