Candidates for Tk’emlups te Secwepemc election announced

The election for Chief and council is coming up at Tk'emlups te Secwepemc and only one current councillor isn't running this time around.

Voters will choose seven councillors and Chief, Nov. 13, with advance polling scheduled for Nov. 6.

Of the current sitting councillors, Marie Baptiste, Thomas Blank, Sonny Leonard and Justin Gottfriedson are seeking re-election.

Another councillor, Jeanette Jules, is one of three candidates vying for the position of Chief for Tk'emlups te Secwepemc.

Kukpi7 (Chief) Rosanne Casimir, currently serving her first three-year term, will be aiming to be re-elected this year as voters will choose between her, Jules and Chad Gottfriedson.

In 2018, Casimir defeated current councillor Joshua Gottfriedson for Chief by nearly 40 votes.
