New COVID case count in Interior Health trending in right direction

The 128 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the Interior Health region in the last 24 hours is one of the lowest daily case counts since July.

The B.C. picture is not as good, with 593 new cases, including 203 in the Fraser Health region, 107 on Vancouver Island, 87 in Northern Health and 68 in Vancouver Coastal.

There were no new COVID deaths recorded in the last 24 hours in the province, according to a news release from the Ministry of Health today, Oct. 5.

There are 5,937 active cases in B.C. with 345 people in hospital, 144 of whom are in intensive care. There are 1,151 active cases in the Interior Health region.

The vaccination rate for those 12 and over is 88.3% with one dose and 81.7% with two doses.

In the past week, Sept. 27 to Oct. 3, 64.2% of the new cases are in people who are not vaccinated at all while 29.3% are people who are fully vaccinated.
