
Good day on COVID front with 118 new cases in Interior Health
The number of daily COVID-19 cases in the Interior Health region fluctuates by a few dozen each day with the last 24 hours being one of the best days for some weeks at 118 new cases.
The provincial tally was down by more than 100 from yesterday at 624, including 258 in the Fraser Health region, 91 in the Northern Health region, 79 on Vancouver Island and 78 in Vancouver Coastal.
There were four more deaths in B.C., with none in the Interior Health region, bringing the death toll to 1,996, according to a Ministry of Health news release issued today, Oct. 7.
There are 5,929 active cases in B.C. with 373 people in hospital, including 132 in intensive care. There are 1,142 active cases in the Interior Health region.
The vaccination rate for those over the age of 12 has reached 88.5% with one dose, 82.1% with two injections.
In the week of Sept. 29 to Oct. 5, 64.4% of those infected have been unvaccinated and, during the two weeks from Sept. 22 to Oct. 5, 70.4% of those hospitalized have had no vaccinations.
