Annie the cat needs your help

PENTICTON – A stray brought into the SPCA shelter in Penticton needs expensive surgery.

A Good Samaritan found the one-and-a-half-year-old pregnant cat limping and bleeding in their yard.

“We can only guess that she was perhaps, hit by a car, which injured her leg and also caused a miscarriage,” branch manager Corinne Ross says.

“Turns out, she has a cruciate ligament rupture, which will need major orthopedic surgery.”

Dr. Steve Harvey at the Penticton Veterinary Hospital has offered to do the surgery for $1,000, which Ross says includes a huge discount.

The cat’s surgery is scheduled for this week.

Ross says as a non-profit organization, the SPCA relies on donations from the public. To help with the cost of Annie’s medical care you can donate online or in person at the South Okanagan/Similkameen B.C. SPCA Branch at 2200 Dartmouth Dr. in Penticton.
