Damage from kitchen fire contained to 4th floor Kelowna apartment
A property representative with a fire extinguisher kept a kitchen fire from spreading in a Kelowna apartment building this morning.
Kelowna firefighters were called to a kitchen fire at a six-storey apartment building in the 1800 block of Country Club Drive at around 8 a.m. today, Oct. 12, according to a Kelowna Fire Department media release.
The fire started above the microwave oven in the fourth floor unit, and spread to the kitchen cabinets and wall area, the fire department said. The flames didn't spread into the structure of the building.
A property rep with the fire extinguisher managed to keep the small fire contained until firefighters arrived.
While the investigation continues, the cause of the fire is believed to be electrical, the department said.
