Man dies following single-vehicle collision in Kelowna
A man has died following a single-vehicle accident in Kelowna this afternoon.
The Kelowna RCMP were called to the collision involving a power pole at the intersection of Richter Street and Doyle Avenue just prior to 1 p.m. today, said Sgt. Chris Manseau, media relations officer with the B.C. RCMP.
There was a single person in the vehicle and they succumbed to their injuries, he said.
Witness Dale Atwood said two bystanders were doing chest compressions on the man before emergency crews arrived and the jaws of life were used to extract the driver from the vehicle.
The intersection was closed off earlier this afternoon but the scene has since been cleared, Manseau said.
The RCMP is investigating if speed is a factor in the incident, he said.
