Driver found passed out in running van, in traffic arrested in Kamloops

A driver is facing charges after he was found behind the wheel of a van — which was running — in a traffic lane in North Kamloops this past weekend.

Officers arrived at 10 Street and Moncton Avenue at around 2:27 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, along with firefighters and paramedics in case the incident was medical related, according to an RCMP media release.

Police found the man was behind the wheel but prohibited from driving, and he was also under the influence of drugs at the time.

He was arrested for driving while prohibited and the van was impounded.

The man was later released with a court date, while the investigation is ongoing, RCMP said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP and reference file number 2021-37417.
