Meth, weapons seized from driver in Kamloops parking lot

Police seized drugs, weapons and ammunition on a call that began as a report of an intoxicated driver in Kamloops last night.

Officers responded to a parking lot on the 700 block of Fortune Drive just after 7 p.m. yesterday, Oct. 27, looking for the driver, according to an RCMP news release.

“Upon approaching the vehicle described, police noted bear spray and a folding saw," Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

Officers later found a firearm magazine loaded with ammunition and about 90 grams of suspected crystal meth.

The man was initially placed under arrest, but later released as the investigation continues.
