VERNON – An eagle-eyed neighbour played a role in the apprehension of a break-and-enter suspect in Vernon on the weekend.
The man noticed someone rummaging through his neighbour’s truck on Mt. Fosthall Drive, Sunday, March 15, and called police.
RCMP say a person matching the suspect’s description was spotted on a bicycle near the 7-Eleven up the road on Highway 6.
The suspect spun a story about being out for a bike ride the officers didn’t buy.
Police say the man was checked and found to be well armed with several knives and an extendable baton. The search also found items believed to be stolen property, including items from the truck.
A 31-year-old man with no fixed address is scheduled to appear in court today, March 16.
