COVID-19 exposure list adds 6 Kelowna flights in last two weeks

There were six planes with COVID-19 positive passengers using the Kelowna International Airport in the last two weeks, according to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control.

Passengers on a domestic flight with a COVID-19 case should self-monitor for symptoms for 14 days, according to the centre.

The most recent case was reported on Oct. 28 on WestJet flight 3309 travelling from Kelowna to Vancouver. Rows one to six were affected.

On Oct. 25, WestJet flight 3125 from Edmonton to Kelowna had a passenger with COVID-19 affecting rows 14 to 19.

WestJet flight 3324 from Vancouver to Kelowna on Oct. 23 also has a passenger with a case, though the affected rows were not reported.

WestJet flight 3325, from Kelowna to Vancouver, Oct. 20, also reported a COVID-19 case, affecting rows three to nine.

WestJet flight 3324 from Vancouver to Kelowna, Oct. 17, also reported a person with COVID-19, affecting rows 12 to 18.

A WestJet flight numbered 479 from Calgary to Kelowna also had a passenger with the virus, affecting rows 13 to 19.

Passengers on a flight with a potential COVID-19 exposure are not told by the centre or Interior Health. Instead, the latest updates are posted to the centre's website.

Starting on Oct. 30, Transport Canada will require proof of vaccination for passengers, 12 years of age and older, travelling on domestic and international flights at all Canadian airports. There will be a transition period until Nov. 30, allowing for passengers to provide a COVID-19 molecular test taken within 72 hours of their flight, if they are not fully vaccinated, according to the City of Kelowna.

As of Saturday, Oct. 30, all passengers will be required to provide proof of one of the following to the airline they are travelling with:

• Full vaccination status
• COVID-19 molecular test taken within 72 hours of the flight
• COVID-19 molecular tests will only be accepted until Nov.29.
• Medical or religious exemption and a test taken within 72 hours of the flight
