Drug crime sweep leads to conviction

A 20-year-old Kelowna woman arrested January 23 during a crime reduction sweep was sentenced to 12 months in prison today (Feb. 22).

During the RCMP crack down operation, Madison Fine was arrested the same day as eight others charged in separate investigations as police worked to clean up downtown Kelowna.

At the time, Fine was charged with one count of trafficking in controlled substance. She was convicted of trafficking in heroin as well as possession for the purpose of trafficking. She was also handed six months probation and a lengthy firearms prohibition.
