Loyal Wooldridge, who was first elected to Kelowna city council in 2018, is the new Central Okanagan Regional District board chair.
The previous chair, Gail Given, choose not to run for re-election in order to spend more time with her family.
Wooldridge was elected ahead of Central Okanagan West representative Wayne Carson but the vote count was not immediately available.
West Kelowna Mayor Gord Milsom was acclaimed as vice-chair.
The new position comes with a pay raise of almost $30,000. Given was paid $48,856 as chair in 2020 while board members were paid $19,009.
Given was first elected to Kelowna city council in 2011 and as board chair in 2014, replacing Robert Hobson who had served in that capacity for many years.
