Winter continues on Interior highways

THOMPSON-OKANAGAN — Up to 20 cm of snow is forecast to fall on the Coquihalla Highway by Thursday morning as winter continues to hit Interior passes again today.

Environment Canada was expecting 15 cm of snow to fall at the Coquihalla Summit by today but only four centimetres has fallen so far, though another 10-20 cm is expected by tomorrow morning. As a result highway maintenance crews will be on the road plowing and sanding throughout the day.

Highway 3 through Allison Pass and Highway 1 through Rogers Pass are also expected to see heavy snowfall with up to 20 cm of snow today while other southern highway passes could see smaller amounts of snow as well.

In addition, you should also watch out for fallen rock and debris due to potholes on highways.

Interior cities can expect to see some rain today though sunshine is expected for Thursday and Friday.
